It was community day at the Capital Center on the campus of the Capital University. The women’s basketball team was hosting a Mount Union team that was winless in the Ohio Athletic Conference. It was an upset by the Purple Raiders as they earned their first Victory in the OAC.

After a few minutes Capital guard Emma Burns knocked down a huge 3-pointer to cut the lead to 12-8. Shortly after Cassidy Bosch, who would lead all scorers in the first quarter with 6 points, made a jump shot to get the first lead for Captial at 13-11. As the Crusaders saw a big boost from forward Regan Stonerock as she was 4 for 6 from the floor with 8 points all in the second quarter. It was Emma Burns 3-pointer with 6:28 to go that really sparked Captial in the second quarter. However, Mount Union kept fighting as Anika Sweeney would hit a couple 3-pointers to keep it close. At halftime the Crusaders had a 39-36 advantage.
The third quarter started out just the way the first half ended as Emma Burns would hit a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 46-39, but Zanny Sauter would go right back down the floor and make a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 46-42. Just under two minutes to go Mount Union guard Corenna Maynard would hit a 3-point bank shot at the shot clock buzzer to cut the lead to 56-52. After a free throw by Caroline Taphorn the Crusaders would lead 57-52 going into the fourth quarter.
It was a slow start to begin the fourth quarter. It wasn’t until Elena Rauhe hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 58-58. Crucial turnovers cost the Crusaders the lead after a fast break layup by Hailey Peoples-O’Neil of the Purple Raiders after a steal by Elena Rauhe. Crusaders found themselves in a dire need of a bucket so head coach Dixie Jeffers called a timeout. After the timeout Cassidy Bosch made a huge basket to tie the games with 5:18 to go in the fourth quarter. Caroline Taphorn would hit two huge free-throws to go up 64-63. Anika Sweeney would hit a huge 3-pointer for Mount Union to go up 66-64. Sarah Hessel hits two huge free throws to go up 68-65.
